Water Ballet

ABOUT THE PROGRAM…

It’s time to break out the dancing flippers and get ready for another one-of-a-kind Water Ballet Show.

Will it be Disney-themed?  Travel?  Summer lovin’? You’ll have to come to find out!

The 2017 super-fantastic-amazing Water Ballet Show will be the evening of Wednesday, July 19th. Lessons and practices for the big event start the week of Monday June 12th.

Any boy or girl interested can participate. There is no minimum age to join, but the child must be able to swim, tread water, and be comfortable in the diving well.  Each performance consists of a skit or dance on the pool deck, coupled with some cool synchronized water moves.  Parents don’t let your boys be shy!  We would love to have more boys rocking it out.  Last year we had three amazing boy acts and this year we’re going for more!

On the other hand, if you have a youngster, age 3-6, that would like to be in the show but isn’t ready for the water, they can sign up for our Deck Dancers program. This group will memorize a dance to be performed in the show on land only. (They will not be in the finale due to the late nature of the finale.) This class will be offered at 12:30-12:55PM on M/W and T/TH basis, and will be limited to 6 kids per class. Better hurry and sign up, because it is first-come-first-served!

The Water Ballet Program is a very inclusive pool favorite.  You can sign up your children now as part of the online registration, or at the pool once it opens.  Watch the pool newsletters and our Facebook page for additional sign-up and program information.

Registration is due Wednesday, June 7th — We will close times when they are full, so don’t wait!

SOME DETAILS…

Lessons and practices are offered generally from 11:30 am to 1:25 pm and in the late afternoon from 5:00 pm to 5:25 pm, from June 12th until July 18th. Practices will start on Monday, June 12th.

There will be a parent introductory meeting Saturday, June 3rd at 4:00PM.

To register… The cost is $15 per child and can be settled using the HPSC website. Please register by Wednesday, June 7th. In addition, two forms need to be filled out and returned to the front desk of the pool — Practice Preferences form and “Rules to Success” form. Here are links to those pages or you can find them at the pool. Due to grouping and choreography, we will not accept registrations after Wednesday, June 7th.

Practice Preferences: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gSR3r_uzkgbbF6yLfG53Kl5hGVGjHDYcoAU6Agg0hVI/edit?usp=sharing

Please note, these forms need to be returned to the front desk of HPSC in tangible form.

Participants will be grouped according to skill level; individual requests will be honored whenever possible.  Grouping and exact practices times will be communicated via e-mail to the parents.

We want to stress that attendance at practice is very important.  We offer several different dates and times for practice. Since the kids are placed into small groups (i.e.: duos, trios, etc.) to choreograph their acts, it makes it challenging to accomplish anything if a member of the “team” is absent.  If you have pre-planned absences, please discuss those with your instructor right away to set up private makeup lessons. Each private your child attends, will override your child’s absence. Please understand that we are preparing a synchronized group choreography, so any child’s absence makes it harder for the attending children. We know that summertime is busy, but if your child decides to participate in water ballet — please do what you can to get them there!

There is also a mandatory 2-hour dress rehearsal practice scheduled for Sunday,      July 16th.

So what are you waiting for?  Come join the fun and sign your child up today for the Water Ballet Program — where EVERY child is a STAR!!
